How To Make An Essential Oil Inhaler

Basic Essential Oil Inhaler Ingredients

  • 10-15 drops of Essential Oil

  • Blank Aromatherapy Inhaler

  • Inhaler filler wick or rose salt larger chrystals for metal inhaler

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1: Label your inhaler, I use this sticker paper. You can also print on regular paper and apply it with contact tape or use special label stickers and write on them by yourself.

Step 2: Add 10 to 15 drops of oil onto the cotton wick (you can place the wick between tweezers or on a small plate). If you are making inhalers for kids be sure

to use 5 to 10 drops of oils and not more.

Step 3: Grab the wick with the tweezers and insert the cotton wick into the inhaler tube.

Step 4: Assemble the inhaler stick by placing the cap on the bottom and press on until it clicks and locks the lid and it is ready to use ( on metal ones you just need to screw the lid on, no need to place the cap on the bottom.)

How To Use An Aromatherapy Inhaler

Take deep breaths in through your nose when you use your inhaler - this will allow the aroma to reach directly through your olfactory system and straight to your limbic system to support your emotions.

Aromas get to the limbic system within the first 10 seconds, but you can repeat it a few more times until you feel better. If you want to have lasting results and not be emotional all the time, you also need to look at where the emotions are coming from (traumas, etc.) and fix the root cause. Tips for Nasal Inhaler Recipes

  • Nasal inhaler recipes are good for about 1-2 months, depending on how frequently it is used (but some might last very long time up to 6 months to few years)

  • Keep the lid on inhaler unless in use. The more the inhaler is used and opened, the faster the oils will dissipate.

  • Refresh cotton wick with the same oil recipe when the aroma seems to have faded. This will depend on how often your inhaler stick is used.

  • You may want to keep the same oil blend in the inhaler. If you add a new scent to the inhaler, the previous scent may still linger. You can get a new inhaler to avoid mixing with past aromas.

  • Do you have a favourite aromatherapy diffuser blend? Try it as an inhaler recipe instead. Just figure out the number of drops to use and come out to 10-15 drops total.

  • Keep nasal inhalers away from direct sunlight and heat so that potency would not diminish.
